Edward B. Secrest is the founder and president of Southeast Financial Group, Inc. in Durham, NC. Edward earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, then refined his financial planning skills working in the insurance, investment, and banking industries.  After 11 years of apprenticeship, Edward decided to build his own company in 2001, what is today Southeast Financial Group.  His objective investment management methods have been shaped by the full market cycles experienced from 1990 to the present.

Edward's primary roles include design, implementation, and ongoing management of client's retirement, estate, and benefit plans, mentoring the financial planners within his branch officejurisdiction, and providing the strategy to develop Southeast Financial Group into the choice investment management firm of the Southeast.

Edward is a Certified Financial Planner and a past Board Member of the Financial Planning Association. Edward is licensed for both securities and fee-based planning.


 
Ed Secrest

John P Sleesman, PhD, CFP® earned his BA degree in Biology from the College of Wooster and his PhD in Plant Pathology from The Ohio State University. He served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps and was honorably discharged at the rank of 1st Lieutenant.  After completing a 31 year career with Bayer CropScience, where he served in numerous managerial positions in both Research & Development and Marketing, he joined Southeast Financial Group. John is a Certified Financial Planner, Past President of the Financial Planning Association of the Triangle Chapter, and holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities licenses. 

 

 

Kristy Barbour is the Office Manager/Executive Admin at Southeast Financial Group.  She earned her BS degree in Business Administration from North Dakota State University and moved from the Mid-West to North Carolina to work in marketing at Nortel Networks.  She joined Southeast Financial Group in 2007.  Kristy holds NC Life and Health Insurance licenses.
